Life Update: #IssaWife

I’m not sure if you heard the news yet…. but I’m officially a MRS. y’all!

June 23rd 2019, my husband & I made it official in front of our family & friends. I always thought I was the happiest girl in the world when I was just Dion’s girlfriend & even his fiancé …..but I’m definitely the happiest I’ve ever been now that I’m his wife! Lol Wow…… Wife *cheesing from ear to ear*

I can’t believe that I planned a whole wedding…… well, I mean half of a wedding. Not really half but I mean Dion played a huge part in the decision making of our wedding.

I know that normally, the woman is in charge of planning everything, & I don’t want to say that I didn’t have the final say so…….. however, Dion’s input & ideas did play a major role in how our wedding day played out. And with that being said, I feel like that’s one thing that keeps our relationship strong. We always, no matter what the circumtances are, consider each others feelings, thoughts, and ideas. To be 100% honest, if it wasn’t for my husband’s eye for dopeness… idk what I would’ve done. I definitely always dreamed of what I wanted my wedding to look like….but I never imagined the work and effort it would take to actually pull it all off. So I just want to say how much I appreciate my husband & all the ideas & words of advice he had to offer during our planning period. But now that all the planning is over….. I’m just excited to finally call Dion my husband, & I can’t wait to see what this new chapter of our life as Mr. & Mrs. has in store.

It’s actually kind of funny when people ask how does it feel to be married. Because honestly, besides the fact that I’m in the process of changing my last name & just calling him my husband…… life with my best friend/superman still feels amazing.

Our wedding day was absolutely perfect & the best day of my life….. but I’m so happy that finally our minds don’t have to be fully consumed with the prepartion of making that day as perfect for us as we possibly could. And with that being said, I thought I would share just a few wedding planning/wedding day tips for any Feyonce’s that may be reading….

….before I jump in, I just want to say thank you to any one that gave me pre-wedding advice. There were a few things that went over my head because of course it was my (our) wedding & I wanted to do things our way… but there were also some things that really stuck with me and I am extremely grateful for those who gave me words of advice.

No. 1— Remember your wedding day is all about you & your husband to be. (don’t let the opinions of others get in your head, stay true to your own vision & enjoy yourselves)

No. 2— Set your budget & stick to it! (Make small minor changes here & there if needed, but just remember every single thing in your wedding has a cost & you don’t want to waste your money)

No 3.— I’ve learned that Bridesmaids aren’t for everyone, however if you plan on having a #BrideGang #BrideTribe, #BrideSquad, #IDoCrew or whatever you want to call it…… CHOOSE WISELY! I honestly believe that I had THEE BEST Bride Gang EVER! All of My Girls did everything in there power to make sure I had the time of my life… but they also kept in mind that the whole purpose of our celebration was my husband & I… and I will forever love them for that!

No. 4— Be smart and strategic when it comes to your guest list. Of course you want to invite everyone to celebrate this extremely special day with you, but you have to realize & understand that some people just won’t show up. And to be honest, I had to learn that the hard way……. We had a great turnout for our wedding, however, there were way more people on the guest list. All I’m saying is, be conscious of who you invite & just be sure they actually show up….. those dinner plates are not cheap!

& Tip No. 5— Just remember the importance of the entire day. This is the day that you dreamt of your entire life, it’s a day that you’ll never forget, & it’ll literally be worth all of the planning, headache, & anxiety. June 23rd 2019 will FOREVER be the Best Day Of My Life!
